How Much Does It Cost to Build an MVP in 2026?

A straight answer on MVP costs in 2026: realistic ranges, what actually drives the price, and how to scope a first version that ships without wasting budget.

The honest answer is a range, because an MVP is defined by scope, not by a price tag. But founders deserve real numbers, so here is how I think about it when someone asks me to build their first version.

What actually drives the cost

  • Number of core features (each screen and flow is real work).
  • Whether you need auth, payments, and admin tooling on day one.
  • Integrations: Stripe, third-party APIs, AI or voice each add scope.
  • Design: using a clean component system is far cheaper than bespoke UI.

Rough ranges

A focused MVP with auth, a core workflow and payments typically lands in the low-to-mid four figures to low five figures, depending on complexity. AI, voice or Web3 features push that higher because they need more careful engineering and testing.

How to spend less without regret

Cut features, not quality. Ship the one workflow that proves the idea, on a solid stack you can extend later. The most expensive MVP is the one you have to rebuild because it was hacked together to look cheap. That is exactly the trap good architecture avoids.
